Of course, working with people is always difficult, and if you want to further develop your career, it is very important to be able to communicate with them correctly, especially in stressful situations. Almost everyone, one way or another, at least once in their life, was a participant in conflicts and frictions in the workplace. In this case, of course, it is important to think about your interests and remember that it is more important to win the war than the battle. Do not seek immediately, aggressively to prove your case in a given situation. We have more effective ways to find a common language with colleagues!

Practically no one is immune from toxic, conflicting people in the work environment. And our tips will help you reduce the stress that arises from this situation.

KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE AND YOUR ENEMIES CLOSER. In general, this universal advice is suitable for almost all difficult life situations, but especially in case of conflicts at work. That is, try to understand what kind of person your office antagonist is. An unfriendly colleague is certainly not your enemy, but the more you know about him, the more likely you are to find a common language. Look for common topics for conversation, in some cases it is worth adjusting to the interlocutor. This does not mean that you also need to become a conflicted and toxic person, it is better to be unconditionally ethical, no matter what happens.

FIND OUT WHERE YOU HAVE THE BUTTONS. Try not to take anything too harshly. Be stronger and don't take things personally. It's just work, and what doesn't kill us certainly makes us stronger. Accept for yourself as a fact, as an axiom, as soon as you leave work, you leave all conflicts and negative emotions there. In no case do not bring it to the house, to the family, so you will simply poison yourself and your personal time too.

FIGHT ONLY FOR WHAT MATTERS. Never spray on any local conflicts, just think about how ineffective it is for your own personal career. At work, always act with a clear understanding of the company's real objectives, as well as your professional goals and concerns. Analyze colleagues and situations to eliminate “false calls" that create unnecessary stress in the office environment.

MANAGE YOUR ANGER. Do not let the offenders piss you off, there is a non-illusory chance that you will simply please them about this. Avoid displays of anger in the workplace. Anger is not good for anyone, it's bad for health, looks unprofessional and generally undermines the reputation – you yourself can end up on the list of difficult colleagues. As mentioned above, be impeccably ethical, one might say, above all this.

CLEAR THE SITUATION. However, no matter how hard you try to be a peacemaker, avoiding conflict is not always a great idea. Sometimes this is fraught with the fact that you can simply start to ride. Hiding from disagreements also builds up stress: you don't want to spend the weekend with a therapist, do you? Sometimes you really need to sort out the situation and, if you're lucky, exhaust the conflict.

If you have an HR manager working in your company, then it may be worth working through the existing conflicts with this person, because HR managers are interested in retaining employees and their effective work. In cases of conflict, such managers redistribute the workload, work with the negative: just let them do their job.

An important point, if your profession is dear and interesting to you, but at the same time, relations with the team or the company's management did not work out, then it may make sense to just change jobs and try your luck elsewhere.

How to quickly and effectively work with colleagues?
