One fine day, you notice that your hair looks dull and becomes difficult to comb. The ends of the hair split, bristle in different directions and seem lighter than the main part of the hair, negating all the beauty. Why does hair split (exfoliate) and how to deal with this problem? Why is this happening? Why do the ends of the hair begin to split?

The main reasons why hair is split is the impact of external factors that lead to damage. It turns out that under the influence of various harmful external factors, the protective sheath of the hair can be injured. As a result, the horny scales that make up the hair “shaggy", instead of tightly adhering to the hair shaft. Meanwhile, the health and shine of hair without tightly fitting horny scales is impossible.

Sadly, hair longer than 30 cm is especially affected. They simply cannot withstand the effects of external factors and inevitably begin to delaminate. In mild cases, it only affects the tips of the hair. If you carefully examine the strand, it turns out that only the last 2-3 cm of the hair are stratified. However, sometimes the hair turns out to be so sensitive to external factors or the factors themselves turn out to be so aggressive that delamination occurs not only at the ends, but also on the hair along the entire length. Since the scales “lag behind” the hair shaft, imagine how much more difficult the combing process is: damaged hair clings to one another, tangles.

Why did the hair begin to split?

Why did the hair begin to split, what factors provoke delamination of the tips? The most different and sometimes unexpected. For example, oddly enough, for a long time – for several years – wearing the same hairstyle, especially if it is a ponytail. Combing, constant parting on the same side can also injure hair.

Of course, the hair dryer also plays a role here. In the event that you use it often and at the same time dry it under a hot, rather than warm, stream of air, keep in mind that by doing this you endanger the condition of your hair. If you have a short haircut and your hair grows back quickly, then you have little reason to worry about the ends of your hair splitting. If your hair is semi-long or long, then your chances of “earning” split ends increase. We can say that they are directly proportional to the length of the hair.

Another risk factor is hair after dyeing with a colorator or perm. Of course, you all want to change your appearance, often drastically, but when experimenting with your image, do not forget that hair coloring or perm is an aggressive intervention in their structure, which can seriously injure them. Damages the hair and frequent contact with a stiff comb with sharp teeth or with a serrated barrette or headband.

Various hair styling products can also damage them. The fact is that many of them (especially varnishes) contain alcohol, which dries out the hair. Meanwhile, many mistakenly believe that all kinds of varnishes, sprays and mousses are even useful for weakened hair, as they stick together their tips.

And one more thing: exposure to the sun and wind can worsen the condition of the hair. The fact is that both the sun's rays and the wind eventually dry out the hair, depriving them of a fair amount of natural lubrication. As a result, the hair becomes thinner and begins to split.

How to deal with split ends and make them not split?

Is it possible to deal with frizzy hair? Before dealing with split ends, I would like to recall one, probably well-known remedy: split ends of hair are simply cut off. If you do not know how to make your hair not split ends, try to cut it just a little bit. For those who grow their hair, this is simply necessary: after each trimming of the hair, for some time they grow faster than if they let the whole thing go by itself. If you have long hair, trim your split ends at least once a month. If you have semi-long or short hair, do the same procedure every six to eight weeks. By the way, recently in many hairdressing salons hot scissors have been used to “solder” the ends of the hair.

If the hair is stratified not only at the ends, but also along the entire length, it is useful from time to time (about once a month) to cut the damaged hairs along the entire length of the strand. This is done very simply. Grab a narrow (about 1 cm) strand and twist it slightly. What do you see? Did individual hairs break out of the twisted strand? Then arm yourself with hairdressing scissors and carefully cut off the ends of the protruding hairs. This, by the way, will help improve the appearance of your hair, if you prefer not to make complex hairstyles out of them, but to wear them loose: individual hairs will stop bristling, and your hair will lie in an even, smooth, soft wave.

Shop products for split ends

But cutting the split ends of the hair is not enough: it is still not a treatment, but a temporary elimination of defects. So, when you discover that the ends of your hair have begun to split, take care of proper care for them.

First of all, decisively remove your regular shampoo from the bathroom shelf: it clearly no longer suits you. The best store-bought remedies for split ends are a special therapeutic shampoo that restores the hair structure and smoothes horny scales. Such a shampoo should include vitamin B5, chamomile extract, wheat germ, mint, linden blossom extract. Also, invest in upgrading your combs and brushes. Opt for wooden or plastic combs with large and sparse teeth. If you prefer a plastic comb to a wooden comb, then before you buy it, carefully inspect the teeth for burrs: otherwise, the hair will be injured by them every time you comb it.

Cosmetics against split ends

Pay special attention to protecting the ends of the hair from adverse external influences. Effective cosmetics against split ends are balms and creams designed to restore the hair structure. Some of them are designed to restore the structure of split ends of the hair. You will only need to apply a small amount of such a balm to the tips – it does not even need to be washed off.

Special creams and balms with a restorative effect cover each hair with a kind of protective film. In addition, penetrating into the hair structure, these products restore it: they contain proteins that fill the gaps formed in the split ends of the hair. Many hair restructuring products contain, among other things, henna, beer and keratins, which strengthen the hair, making it stronger without weighing it down.

How to care for split ends with folk remedies

Many recipes for restoring the structure of the hair can be found in traditional medicine. Here, preference is given mainly to compresses based on vegetable oils, which should be done about twice a month before washing the hair.

Slightly warm up a small amount of any vegetable oil and rub it into the scalp. Spread the rest of the oil over the entire length of the hair. Wrap your head in cellophane and then a thick terry towel and leave the compress on your hair. After 1 hour, wash your hair as usual, bearing in mind that after the oil you will have to rinse your hair even more thoroughly, and rinse it with water, to which add a little lemon juice.

For a compress, it is most preferable to use burdock or almond oil, but in principle, any vegetable oil is suitable: it forms the protective film on the hair that they need so much.

Here is another compress recipe. Take 1 tsp. vegetable oil (olive or sunflower), cognac, honey and henna powder. Add 1 egg yolk and mix thoroughly. Apply and rinse off the compress in the same way as in the previous recipe. Are you worried that one of the ingredients of the composition is henna, and you are afraid to dye your hair? Do not worry, this does not threaten you: the amount of henna taken for the compress is so small that it will not have a coloring effect on the hair.

And here is one of the simplest, but no less effective compresses. Rub the most common yogurt into the scalp and hair. Put on a plastic or oilcloth cap and leave the compress on your hair for half an hour. After that, you can repeat the procedure, and then wash your hair as you usually do. For washing, it is preferable to use a mild shampoo.

You can rinse your hair with damaged tips with herbal infusions and decoctions that have a strengthening effect. So, for example, you can infuse linden and chamomile flowers, mint or birch leaves – these plants tone the hair and make it stronger.

Split ends and split ends

Of course, hair loss is best not treated, but prevented. If you know that your hair is prone to splitting, keep in mind that even cured hair remains extremely sensitive to external influences, and you will have to make some sacrifices, which, however, will more than pay off for their healthy look, shine and smoothness.. To prevent stratification of hair and further care for split ends, no matter how hard it is, you will have to forget about all kinds of curling irons, “irons” (a device that simulates smooth strands). Thermal curlers, if you use them, will need to be replaced with regular ones.

In no case do not comb wet hair: they tend to stretch and, as a result, exfoliate.

Take care to protect your hair from exposure to the sun, wind, rain and snow. No matter how you sometimes want to go without a hat on a not too cold winter day, it is better to emphasize your beauty with a fashionable hat – your unique style will not suffer from this, and your hair will remain healthy.

It is better to refrain from coloring and perm. In any case, if you still decide to dye your hair, try to choose a more gentle dye, one that contains natural healing substances. And do not forget about the proper care of dyed hair. But if the ends of your hair are split from a perm, you should take a break from it for some time. It's better to wind them on curlers than to injure them with an aggressive chemical composition. This also applies to “direct” chemistry, so if you, the owner of lush curls, dream of straight smooth hair, use professional hair styling equipment instead of chemistry: let the effect be short-lived, but your hair will remain healthy.

Tips for repairing split ends

Restoring split ends is a laborious process that requires a fair amount of patience. Paying attention to your hair, do not forget that they are cared for not only from the outside (with the help of special shampoos, balms and other remedies), but also from the inside. It is impossible to have healthy hair without normal sleep, proper daily routine, good mood, and in general everything that we usually combine under the name "healthy lifestyle". Your hair will be healed by exercise, a diet that is limited in the amount of sweet and fatty foods, and dominated by fruits, vegetables, and especially nuts.

Another tip on how to restore split ends is to drink plenty of water. Remember that to maintain the water balance of the whole organism as a whole, including hair, you need a sufficient amount of pure water daily. It is water: not soda and in no case alcohol, which only dehydrate the body. By the way, a seemingly innocent bottle of carbonated drink contains about 28 tsp. Sahara! How bad are these drinks for your health and for the health of your hair.

[563

post-590698","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-the-beauty
["GET
