Therefore, cold styling with a comb and fingers can be applied regularly without causing much harm. But of course, as in everything, here you need to observe the measure – as a daily method, this method is also undesirable. The technology of cold hair styling is not so complicated, and you can cope with it without resorting to the services of hairdressers.
Cold styling of hair can be done both on all hair and on separate sections. Almost all hair types and textures can be styled in this way. It will be most convenient to work with wavy hair. On them, cold styling lasts especially long. Elastic and soft hair, as well as hair having an ellipsoidal or oval cross-section, lends itself well to cold styling.
Problems can arise with hard and bouncy hair. They are not so pliable, and cold styling keeps them much worse.
Cold styling is performed on wet hair. Be sure to use styling products. The principle is simple: with the help of curlers, brushes or fingers, the strand is laid as needed and fixed with hot or cold air.
Cold styling tools
To carry out styling in a cold way, you will need the following devices: pins, combs, clips, climazons, hair nets, dryer, hair dryer, brushes.
To keep your hair clean longer, wear a plastic shower cap when you shower and twist your hair into a bun before going to bed.
Klimazon is a device for accelerating curling, coloring and hair treatment. It is a chrome-plated stand with movable infrared lamps attached to the frame. Modern climazons are equipped with a timer and have two modes of operation: more powerful and less powerful.
Sushuar is a device for drying hair, which in its most general form is a plastic cap on a stable leg.
Cold laying technology
Apply a cold styling compound to your hair to make it more elastic. Most often, a cold decoction of flaxseed is used for this purpose. Prepare it in advance. In 1 liter of boiling water I put 5-6 tsp. flaxseed, simmer for 15-20 minutes, allow to cool and filter. Sometimes a little cologne is added to give a smell to the decoction.
Comb your hair with a combination comb with sparse and fine teeth. Hold the base of the hair with your left hand, and comb it with your right hand: first with sparse teeth, then with frequent ones. In the future, for the design of the waves, use a comb with frequent teeth.
Sometimes when cold styling, the strand is too wide, and the side of the comb with fine teeth is not enough to process the strand in one go. In this case, you need to comb your hair in two or more steps.
Cold hair styling in waves (with photo)
If the strand has to be processed in two steps, start laying on the side of the strand where the first wave will be directed. If the waves during cold hair styling lie to the right, start styling from the right side of the strand, if left – from the left. Otherwise, the wave will be uneven. Next, the technology of cold hair styling with a wave to the right will be described.
Step back from the base of the strand 3-4 cm and press the combed strand on the right with the middle finger of your left hand.
Take a comb in your right hand and insert it with the side with frequent teeth into your hair. The comb should fit snugly against the middle finger and be strictly parallel to it.
Directing the comb along its plane, move the part of the captured strand to the right side by 1-1.5 cm.
Look at the photo: if the cold styling is done correctly, the first wave line, or crowns, should form between the middle finger of the left hand and the comb:
Without removing the teeth of the comb from your hair, tilt it about 45° towards you. At the same time, with the index finger of your left hand, firmly press the hair between the comb and crown. Your index finger should slide along the outer side of the comb from you towards the tips of the teeth. At the same time, the index finger will squeeze the wave line so that it is between it and the middle finger.
Comb the hair that is below the index finger of the left hand, and proceed to the processing of the left side of the strand.
Step back from the base of the strand 3-4 cm and press the combed strand with the middle finger of your left hand. Make sure that the amount of indentation is the same as on the right, otherwise the wave lines on the right and left sides will not match.
Enter the comb into the hair and move it to the right. As a result, a second crown is formed. Connect it to the crown located on the right side of the strand.
Tilt the head of the comb towards you at a 45° angle. Holding the index finger of the left hand, the hair between the comb and the wave line, comb the hair from the finger.
As you can see in the photo of cold hair styling in waves, if everything is done correctly, the first wave line will form across the entire width of the strand. After that, move on to the second line.
Cold laying of the second wave line
Start the cold styling of the second wave line from the left side of the strand. Step back from the first line 3-4 cm and pinch the hair with the middle finger of your left hand.
Insert the teeth of the comb into your hair. The comb should be placed close to the middle finger.
The next stage of cold hair styling is to move the comb and fingers to the left, forming the second wave line.
Press the second line of the wave with the index finger of your left hand and comb your hair from the finger.
Complete the second wave line on the right side of the strand in the same way.
If everything is done correctly, you will have the first wave, limited by the first (upper) and second (lower) crowns. Perform all subsequent waves in the same way. Start each next wave from the side of the strand where the wave will be directed. To form the first crown, you moved the comb to the right and started working the strand on the right side. As a result, the wave turned out to be directed to the right. The second crown was formed by moving the comb to the left, the strand was also processed first from the left side. The second crown of the first wave was at the same time the first crown of the second wave. Therefore, the second wave should be directed to the left.
Remember: the direction of movement of the comb during the formation of the first crown of any wave coincides with the direction of the wave itself.
Cold laying of the last wave
The most recent wave is formed in a special way. You have created the last cron. Normally, you would comb the ends of your hair down from your index finger. However, when cold styling the last wave, you should do otherwise: comb the ends of the hair in the direction where you would need to move the comb to form the next crown.
Cold hair styling with side parting comb and fingers
1 Cold styling with a side parting begins with the application of a styling product to the hair and then combing.
2 Make a parting. If the parting is done on the left, then laying starts on the right side, and vice versa. If the parting is oblique (side), then the hair will be divided into two unequal parts, which means that the number of waves in each of them will be different. It is accepted that on a wide section there is one more wave than on a narrow one. Decide on the number of future waves, and also mentally outline the order of their location on the head.
3 Step back from the parting 3-4 cm and pinch the hair with the middle finger of your left hand. To create a sharper reverse frontal wave, the indentation from the parting is made larger – 5-6 cm.
4 Insert the comb into the hair so that the teeth fit snugly against the middle finger. Move it to the left, giving the hair the right direction from the forehead.
5 Tilt the head of the comb towards you. At the same time, with the index finger of your left hand, press the hair near the formed line.
6 Carefully comb your hair with movements from the index finger. Pay special attention to the bottom layer of hair.
7 Move your middle finger 3-4 cm from the formed crown and press the hair.
The gel used when styling with the effect of "wet hair" dries them somewhat. To reduce this negative effect, it is enough to mix the gel with a small amount of moisturizing conditioner.
8 Insert the comb into the hair so that its teeth fit snugly against the middle finger, and slide it to the right. Following her, the hair will also move to the right.
When you finish processing the second crown of the reverse frontal wave, the index finger of your left hand will be on the hair, from which the protruding frontal wave will be formed. Therefore, completing one wave, you actually immediately begin processing the next wave. It is formed by the same methods as described earlier.
When performing cold styling, make sure not only the order of the waves, but also that the wave lines of the right and left sides of the head fit exactly. The way these lines are connected depends on the hairstyle model.
In hairstyles with a side parting, the waves should join at the back of the head. The second crown of the first wave on the side with most of the hair must mate with the first crown of the first wave on the side with less hair. As a result, the first wave of the smaller section will merge with the second reverse wave of the larger section. The second wave of the smaller segment will merge with the third reverse wave of the larger segment. A wave that is protruding in one section will be reversed in another section.
9 When all the planned waves are done, put a net over your head to keep your hairstyle while drying. With the index and middle fingers of the left hand and a comb, correct the wave lines, straighten the entire hairstyle as a whole and dry the hair.
10 Remove the net, comb your hair and style your hair.
Cold hair styling with parting
A straight parting, unlike a side parting, divides the hair into two equal parts, which means that the waves should be located symmetrically on both sides of the head. The number of waves on hair with a straight parting during cold styling should be the same.
In this case, the waves are connected at the back of the head. The first reverse side of any wave will dock with the first protruding wave of the opposite side.
Cold hair styling without parting
The sequence of actions when styling hair without a parting in a cold way is the same as when creating a styling with a parting. The connection of the waves on the occipital region is no different either: the protruding waves on one side of the head join with the reverse waves on the other side. Hair should be combed from the face to the back of the head.
As a rule, in hairstyles without a parting, the waveforms on the back of the head and on the areas framing the face differ. The waves located closer to the face are narrowed. In the occipital areas, they expand. There is a peculiarity in the very technique of laying. The crown lines of the first wave in unparted hairstyles are usually quite steep. Therefore, it is necessary to perform the first wave not with the entire plane of the teeth of the comb, but only with its end.
