To perform highlighting at home, if not easier than completely dyeing your hair, then, in any case, not much more difficult. First, you need less dye. Secondly, on the "feathers" the "errors" of coloring will not be so visible. And, finally, thirdly, growing back, contrasting hair roots will not spoil the overall picture, because the meaning of highlighting lies precisely in the “unevenness" of coloring.

There is a widespread myth that people with dark hair turn gray before fair-haired people. It's a delusion. In fact, everything is the other way around: blondes have gray hair earlier.

However, on dark hair, gray hair of a contrasting color is more striking than silver hairs against the background of blond curls.

Try to make your hair more expressive with highlighting – lightening individual strands. The advantage of highlighting is that it is a gentle staining.

The number of bleached strands can be very different: even two or three wide bleached strands make the simplest hairstyle more spectacular. Highlighting looks good on hair of very different lengths and on a variety of haircuts and hairstyles. Lightened strands visually make the hairstyle voluminous.

Hair highlighting technology

The hair highlighting technology is quite simple, but requires accuracy. A clarifier is applied to the strands of the desired thickness using a special brush. Highlighted strands are separated from the rest of the hair with foil. The duration of the clarifier is 30-40 minutes. After that, the hair is washed with balm and dried with a hairdryer.

The main difficulty in highlighting hair at home is the formation of strands: they must be the same size and located at the same distance from each other (if asymmetry is not provided initially).

So taking on such a hair color on your own is only for persons who are neat and methodical. By the way, highlighting on unwashed hair will partly facilitate the procedure: clean hair fluffed up with shampoo and balm will become “loose”, and it will be very difficult to separate the strands.

This "partial coloring" looks especially impressive on short hair. Comb the strands that you will highlight strongly, so that their tips bulge.

Apply a clarifier to the ends of the strands and leave it on your hair for about half an hour, after wrapping it in foil. After bleaching, wash your hair with shampoo and blow-dry.

Cons of highlighting hair

The disadvantages of highlighting are that this method of coloring looks different on different hair. So, for example, lightening black hair gives an unpleasant yellowness, and brunettes – lovers of highlighting – have to paint over this yellowness with a colorator that gives the color "blond".
