Contouring and sculpting: a technique that will change your makeup
Today, there are simply a huge number of different contouring products on the decorative cosmetics market. Sticks, powders, bronzers, sculptors… There are two main types of facial contouring: the first is created with dry textures, the second with creams. What is the difference?
Dry contouring: main features
In general, this way of sculpting is simpler and more versatile. As the name implies, this sculpting is done using dry products – sculpting blush highlighting powder. They are usually applied with brushes. Powder products are most suitable for girls with oily skin and make-up beginners: they are the easiest to apply and do not have to bother with complex shading for too long.
Naturally, the application of dry contouring products has its own characteristics. The main rule to follow when using contouring powder is: apply it after you are done with creamy textures. First you need, for example, to apply a foundation, then powder it, and after that proceed to contouring products. Otherwise, they will simply stain and it will no longer be possible to wash it off, it will be necessary to redo all the makeup. In general, it is always necessary to “close" cream textures, as if to fix them with powder ones: this way your makeup will be much more resistant and will last much longer.
Before using contouring powder, be sure to powder your face with regular powder. Otherwise, the dry sculptor will “stick” to the foundation on the skin and, as mentioned above, will be distributed in spots.
It is very important to choose the right shades of contouring products. If you need to emphasize the cheekbones, it is better to choose a blush of cool shades with a grayish undertone. If your own cheekbones stand out quite strongly and, on the contrary, the task is to “smooth out the corners”, warmer tones will suit you. The warm tones of the sculptors are somewhat more versatile, they will also help you slightly “warm” the face, make it more tanned.
Sculpting powder should be applied under the cheekbones, on the lateral surfaces of the forehead, on the lateral surfaces of the nose, optionally under the lower lip and along the contours of the face: this will help to make the oval of the face clearer. In turn, the highlighter is applied to the center of the face. At the same time, do not confuse a highlighter with a luminizer. It is very important to use a natural bristle brush for dry contouring. A beveled or torch shape works well.
Cream contouring: main features
Cream contouring products can be produced in various forms: sticks, creams, cream powders. For their application, it is important to use brushes made of synthetic bristles. We apply a darker agent to the same areas as with dry contouring: under the cheekbones, on the sides of the forehead, on the sides of the nose, under the lower lip and along the contours of the face. Next, let's start shading. The funds must be completely, very carefully shaded: so that no one can doubt that all this beauty is yours, absolutely natural. It is best to use several brushes, you can connect a wet tone like those that are usually used to apply foundation. Apply cream blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend. A liquid luminizer can also be used. To make your makeup last as long as possible, do not forget to powder the result.
The most important thing in the process of creating competent contouring is not to overdo it. Ideally, you should do this makeup in front of a dressing table with a triple mirror: so that you can adequately evaluate your makeup from the side. The fact is that quite often girls go too far with contouring and just make spots in the cheek area. And also, it is very important to choose not too cold shades of sculpting products so that the contouring does not look like a bruise.
