The upcoming photo shoot is the reason why girls most often turn to the services of professional makeup artists. In fact, makeup for a photo shoot is a very special genre. In addition to the fact that it is very important to take into account the features of the face, skin type and color type of each particular girl in order to create a harmonious image, it is also very important to understand the peculiarities of working with cameras. And keep in mind that if the photo session is held on the street, then this is one make-up, if in the studio – with specific lighting, spotlights and flashes, then it is another. But in fact, we are sure that every girl is able to do makeup for a photo shoot on her own – no worse than a professional makeup artist. And in this article, we would like to talk a little more in detail about the features of creating a competent make-up for a photo.

How to do makeup for a photo shoot?

Makeup for a photo shoot, of course, has its own characteristics. It must be made, firstly, brighter than usual (it will not be so noticeable in the photo), and secondly, do not be afraid to accent both eyes and lips with it. How to prepare for shooting yourself? It is quite possible.

The algorithm looks something like this:

  1. You need to start, of course, with skin care. This step will give you a rested look, plus – any cosmetics will be applied more evenly, the makeup itself will last much longer. Before the photo session, in the process of preparing for makeup, do not apply serum to the face and do not use masks, especially with a greasy texture.
  2. When doing makeup for a photo shoot, make sure that there is no extra shine on the skin. Apply a pea-sized amount of mattifying primer to those areas of the face where oily sheen first appears (T-zone, center of the chin). So you do not have to constantly powder it and weigh down the skin with extra layers of cosmetics. Distribute the makeup base in the same way as the moisturizer. In this case, active matting is simply necessary: after all, camera flashes always “show" extra shine.
  3. Apply an illuminating primer locally on the skin – on those areas where the maximum reflection of light occurs (cheekbones, sides of the face, "back" of the nose and chin). This is necessary in order to make the face in the photo look more textured. Your task is to give the skin a delicate glow. This will give the effect of very glossy, beautiful skin – literally, like from the cover of a magazine.
  4. Using a duofiber brush or a special wet sponge, apply foundation all over the face, paying particular attention to areas along the hairline. The foundation should be quite dense: in this way, you will hide the maximum of imperfections and the skin will look perfect. Despite the fact that you used a highlighting primer locally, the foundation should be rather matte: again, to avoid excess shine.
  5. Small imperfections are neutralized with a pigmented corrector. Be sure to shade it well.
  6. We correct the area around the eyes with a reflective concealer.
  7. We apply translucent powder all over the face: to fix the foundation and further even out the tone. It is better not to use classic transparent powder: it does not glare too beautifully with camera flashes.
  8. Due to the fact that we used a fairly dense tone, the natural reliefs of the face were, as it were, erased. Therefore, they again need to be emphasized. With a dry gray-brown corrector, we emphasize the cheekbones, the lateral surfaces of the forehead, the lateral surfaces of the nose. Do not forget the highlighter: apply it on the cheekbones, on the tip of the nose and on the “tick” above the upper lip: this way your skin will look fresher and more natural.
  9. Eyebrows should be shaped in accordance with your natural shape. But in the case of make-up for a photo shoot, you can use more saturated shades to draw a more pronounced curve. Be sure to line the lower edge of the eyebrow with a concealer brush: this will help to make the eyebrows more defined, graphic and neat.
  10. Let's move on to eye makeup. There can be many different options and, in any case, choose the one that you like and suits you the most. But let's say right away: the arrows look the most impressive in the photographs. Moreover, even if you are an adherent of nude makeup, then it is the arrows in the photo that will help add maximum expressiveness to your eyes. Do not forget that before drawing the arrows, it is very important to blend at least a little shadow on the eyelids. Be sure to use a primer to increase the durability of your eye makeup. And yet, it is at photo shoots that false eyelashes will be most appropriate.
  11. Apply a lip balm to prep your lips. This is especially true for those with dry or chapped lips. Due to the fact that long-lasting lipsticks are usually applied at photo shoots, this step will prevent dry lips in the future.
  12. We apply a contour pencil on the lips, completely paint over the surface of the lips with it and already on top we paint the lips with a long-lasting lipstick in tone.
