Co-washing is not another scary word from the worldwide web, it literally translates as washing your hair with conditioner. This idea was invented for African American women, whose hair is very unruly and sticks out in different directions. It takes a lot of time to style such curls every morning, and for this a new method was invented – washing hair, excluding shampoo.

To create this effect, it is necessary to wet the hair well, then generously apply the conditioner to wet hair, rubbing it into the scalp with massaging movements. It is important to apply the product with high quality, because it will depend on how much your scalp is cleansed. This procedure should be carried out for at least 5 minutes. Rinse off the conditioner should also be no less thorough than you applied it. This will also take you some time to clean your hair to a “squeak".

If necessary, you can apply a hair mask or a special balm, depending on the type of hair – nourishing, reducing volume or straightening. Combing wet hair with your fingers, you should feel how your fingers glide easily through your hair, otherwise you should add more balm.

This method can be taken as the main one or alternated with regular shampooing. It is believed that the hair becomes more obedient, silky and you need to wash your hair less often. Experts say that this method will be useful for those ladies who have sensitive, oily or dry scalp. In addition, this method of hair care will be useful for those ladies who do frequent styling, coloring, and thereby dry out their hair.

Professional stylists do not particularly comment on Ko-washing as a way of hair care, but there are more and more supporters of this method every year. This has even led some firms to release a cleansing conditioner as a separate hair care product that is recommended for deep cleansing of the scalp.
