It is necessary to take care of the feet every day in order to keep their skin in good condition. This article details how to care for your feet at home using improvised means.
Well-groomed feet are essential for self-confidence and well-being, so it is very important to know how to properly care for your feet and how to overcome common foot problems that most women face. Typically, the main foot problems are: calluses, rough skin, cracked heels and feet, fungus, ingrown toenails, and bad breath. For each of these problems, a solution can be found.
How to treat callus on the foot?
Corns are perhaps the most common problem not only in women but also in men. They are usually caused by wearing the wrong shoes, so choosing the right shoes is the first step to healthy feet. The following is about how to treat callus on the foot with the help of simple and affordable means and methods.
You can also carry out small procedures to prevent the formation of corns. Firstly, these are contrast baths. After a hard day's work, you need to steam your feet in hot water for 5-10 minutes, and then immerse them in a bowl of cold water for a few seconds. Secondly, it is necessary to apply softening and moisturizing creams.
The use of a foot scrub in combination with a pumice stone and nourishing cream helps prevent hardening of the skin on the heels.
Rough skin on feet
Rough skin on the feet is a serious problem that can cause a lot of inconvenience, especially when wearing sandals and slates.
The main measure to prevent the formation of rough skin on the heels and cracks on them is, of course, exfoliation and nutrition. It is best to get rid of rough skin with careful steaming and pumice stone treatment. After steaming and pumice treatment, you can additionally use a foot scrub – it contains nutrients and emollients.
Treatment of the feet with folk remedies
Treatment of the feet with folk remedies helps to solve many problems, for example, an ingrown toenail. At the first signs of an ingrown nail, baths should be made from a decoction of chamomile (2 tablespoons per 2 liters of water), and a corner of a sterile bandage soaked in olive oil or petroleum jelly should be laid between the skin and the ingrown nail. The bandage should be changed in the morning and evening until the problem disappears.
How to relieve tired feet?
It happens that after a hard day at work, heaviness and swelling appear in the legs. Especially such problems are familiar to those women whose work is associated with prolonged standing. Such problems should not be ignored, it is much better to arrange a small “holiday" for the legs from time to time, paying special attention to their relaxation. Regular baths with decoctions of herbs and essential oils, as well as massage treatments and gymnastics, will help you relax your feet. Suggested methods for relieving tired feet include relaxing massages, herbal baths, and gymnastics.
Therapeutic foot baths
To relax not only the legs, but the whole body, take warm and hot therapeutic foot baths with essential oils of geranium, lemongrass, cypress, myrtle, lemon at the rate of 1 drop per 10 liters of water (8 to 11 drops for a standard bath).
You should not add a large amount of essential oils to the bath – for all their usefulness, their excess can lead to allergic reactions and even, in rare cases, to burns. In addition, harsh and intense odors do not contribute to good health.
To relieve fatigue, drop into the bath 2 drops of mandarin, eucalyptus, clove and myrrh oils or 3 drops of rosemary and grapefruit.
Gymnastics and exercises for the feet
Here are a few exercises for the feet, which will not only help relieve fatigue, but also have a preventive effect on muscles, joints and blood vessels. The proposed gymnastics for the feet improves blood flow and relieves nervous tension. Do exercises for the feet should be daily in the evenings after a hard day.
1 Rotate the feet first in one direction, then in the other.
2 Bend and straighten your toes several times.
3 Bend and unbend the legs at the knees several times, straightening them forward. It is better not to try to immediately reach an angle of 90 ° – the goal of this gymnastics is to relieve fatigue, and not pump up your legs.
4 Take off your shoes completely, put a pencil, a piece of cloth or a tennis ball on the floor and try to grab it with all fingers and move it from place to place. This exercise is a good prevention of flat feet.
5 Place a small cylindrical object on the floor: a pipe from a vacuum cleaner, a bottle or a can of deodorant. Place the arch of the foot on the subject and roll it on the floor with light pressure.
6 Walk first on the outside of the foot, and then on the inside.
7 Sitting up, pull a hair tie or a few rubber bands between your big toes. Bring and spread your legs.
8 "Shake" first one leg and then the other.
Foot massage
Foot massage is a procedure that allows you to relax and get rid of many problems associated with excessive stress on the legs. Massage is recommended to be performed in beauty salons or chiropractors, however, a simple massage can be performed on your own. It should be remembered that it is better to start a foot massage from the feet and gradually move from the bottom up.
In order to make a foot massage oil, you need to decide what effect you want to achieve: petitgrain and patchouli oils are good for relaxation, eucalyptus and fir oils are good for warming up, and lemon and mint oils are good for a refreshing effect. It is important to know that in its pure form, essential oils should not be applied to the skin – you can get burned; before application, essential oils must be diluted in so-called carrier oils, such as olive oil, sweet almond oil or grape seed oil. For 50 ml of transport oil, 10 drops of essential oil are enough.
Vacuum cupping massage is a procedure of rolling a silicone or glass jar over the outer surface of the thigh. At the same time, subcutaneous fat globules begin to break down, and the metabolism proceeds faster, due to which the “orange peel” effect is reduced. The procedure of vacuum massage should not be carried out more than 1 time in 2 days.
