How to better train a person’s memory: exercises for training and developing memory
Learning to keep useful information in your head is simply necessary. And for this you need to know how to train your memory – only daily exercises will help teach the brain to work.
People often complain about bad memory. This may simply be due to difficulties in concentrating: lack of discipline of the mind (inability to create sustained attention), lack of proper motivation for memorization, too much information, features of the course of processes in the nervous system, bad mood (depression), fatigue.
But there may be real memory impairments, that is, difficulties in memorizing (fixing), storing and reproducing information. This can be associated with diseases (uncured hypertension, cerebral atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, Alzheimer's disease). Here, simple exercises to train the memory are not enough, first of all, you need to see a doctor to find out and remove the cause.
And it happens that a person simply stops working with his head, especially after retiring. What doesn't work will atrophy. And vice versa: what trains, then develops. How to train the memory of a person who has difficulty remembering even the simplest information?
Exercises to train your memory
Below is a list of exercises on how you can train memory and develop attention.
1 Train observation: observing what is happening around, fix your attention not only on the "main figures", but also on the background – colors, sounds, smells. Try to find the most accurate verbal designations for them, imagining how you tell someone about it. While doing this exercise to train your memory, try to remember in great detail your way to the house – what signs you come across on the way, what color they are, what is special about the buildings you meet on the way.
2 At the end of the week, try to replay the events that happened in detail, think about what pleasant things happened to you during this period of time, what brought you pleasure, and then scroll through these events in reverse order.
3 Another way to better train your memory is to try to retell the content of an article, book, or film you just read.
4 Try to keep a list of things to do and purchases in your head: memorize the entire list of medicines that you take, know their dosage and frequency of administration.
5 Work with children, grandchildren – conduct developmental activities (for example, “name 5 words with the letter “a" or 5 animals”, lotto, charades, etc.), read books to them, participate in school assignments.
6 Try to memorize a poem or piece of prose that you like. When performing this exercise for training and developing memory, try not to memorize the text mechanically, but to memorize it meaningfully, creating vivid images and associations, break it into small passages, learn them gradually and be sure to believe in yourself.
7 If you need to remember something that you often forget, use associative prompts to remember a list of cases, events or objects. A great exercise in memory training is to try to tie them together into a single story, which should be consistent and logical, but at the same time may contain elements of absurdity and exaggeration.
8 Remembering this or that list of objects, try to imagine how they are presented on a familiar street, in your apartment or somewhere else. Then once again mentally go through this entire route and consider everything that you have placed there. When you need to reproduce the right words – just go and collect them.
9 If you want to remember a string of numbers, such as a phone number, come up with a phrase in which each word begins with the same letter as the corresponding number. The number 9 begins with the same letter as 2, so 9 can be denoted by the second letter – "e". 1 – can be denoted as "o" (one) or "r" (time). So, the number 1117032 can be remembered as "Will the hunter let his new trophy go home." Moreover, your phrase should be associated with the place where you are calling.
