The question of self-motivation can be called almost the most difficult in absolutely any job. Even avid workaholics now and then give in to procrastination and emotional burnout. Remember how many times in the last month you postponed the report execution task for no apparent reason? Most likely, you yourself are not happy with this state of affairs, but you simply have neither the desire nor the strength to force yourself to sit down to work. In general, no one is immune from this, especially in the dull autumn period, when summer and holidays are already over, and the New Year holidays are still far enough away.

Laziness during working hours can be expressed in several ways: someone plays computer games or constantly updates social media feeds, and someone discusses the latest news with colleagues, first before lunch and then until the evening, also distracted by endless coffee breaks. At first glance, there is nothing serious in this, with whom it does not happen. But in fact, the unwillingness to work or perform specific tasks must be fought, otherwise it is fraught with problems with superiors, up to and including dismissal. Also, if you work backwards, you are much less likely to get promoted. Therefore, effective work is entirely in your interests.

What to do?

  1. Set a goal. Of course, it is better if you have not one goal, but several, including both long-term, global, and quite achievable daily ones. Don't just think about what you want to achieve, but also imagine how completing this or that task, which your hands do not reach, will bring you closer to the desired results.
  2. Remember order. It may seem insignificant, but still, the order in the workplace significantly affects the level of motivation. Clean up your workspace. It is from this, in many cases, that inspiration depends. Look around and decide what you can throw away without regret, and what, on the contrary, you can add to cheer yourself up. And also, it is important that everything you need for your work is constantly at hand.
  3. Switch. Naturally, people are not robots, and switching, resting, is very important. If you spend time only on the profession and do not notice anything around, you can safely earn emotional burnout. Therefore, you should have at least two days off a week, no matter how many projects you have at the moment. Also, take small breaks from work, at least once every half an hour. But you don't need to spend your break scrolling through social networks or another cup of coffee, it’s better to take a walk, warm up.
  4. Reward yourself with nice things when you reach a certain goal. The degree of reward depends on the level of the target. From going to a cafe to a trip to the city of dreams, take your pick.
  5. Be sure to leave time for yourself, take care of your body. Do not forget about an adequate diet, eat healthy food, do not forget to drink at least two liters of water a day, and exercise at least a couple of times a week. If you focus solely on work, it will only cause burnout. And most often, procrastination is caused by lack of sleep, chronic fatigue syndrome.
  6. Strictly allocate yourself a certain time for work: set a timer and do not be distracted by anything.
  7. Get up every day as early as possible, start the day with planning and leave the most difficult, dreary tasks for the first half of the day. For the afternoon, leave simple, almost routine tasks.
  8. Clearly explain each task to yourself. Often, procrastination occurs when the essence of the task is not entirely clear and true perfectionists want to achieve the highest quality of its implementation and do not know how to approach it.
